JAZZ: Education in Dance and Theatre Arts Syllabus (EDTA)
Jazz classes are great for fitness, flexibility, posture and muscular development.
Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps, and quick turns! Jazz dance represents our popular culture and it is forever changing.
Today, Jazz dance is influenced by pop music and can be seen in concerts and video clips – students dance to the latest pop tunes and learn all the technical skills to be able to turn, leap and put complex movements together as a dance. To excel in jazz, dancers benefit from a background in ballet, as ballet encourages core strength and balance. For those wishing to gain recognition for the work they have done over each year, exams are available (but not compulsory) via the EDTA.
“My 3 year old started wigglebugs this year and absolutely loves it! Miss Jo is her favourite and every time to finishes class she says “mummy, I love ballet and I have fun”. All teachers are lovely and very friendly. When your 3 year old gets ready in her ballet outfit and does not have any tantrums, you know that dance school is amazing!”
