BALLET: Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus (RAD)
Classical Ballet is the foundation of most dance genres – encouraging strength, flexibility, endurance, self-discipline and artistry. From the 4-year-old Beginners Ballet class to the Solo Seal Award, every class is a journey brimming with wonder, exploration, and fun.
At the Academy, students are taught the RAD syllabus in ballet, which incorporates classical ballet and character dance. And at senior levels it is complemented by open classes.
The RAD is the largest classical ballet teaching organisation in the world, with its graduates being renowned for their solid foundation in ballet technique and artistry throughout the world.
Junior Ballet Classes
At the Academy are a great way for children to express themselves and to explore and develop their imagination. The classes are structured specifically to develop motor skills, co-ordination, rhythm, musicality and imagination, all within the framework of an enjoyable dance class. Each year class content is heightened allowing children to study up to Grade 8 (Award).
Senior Ballet Classes
At the Academy, senior students are offered the opportunity to further progress their professional development by choosing to undertake the RAD vocational exams, supplemented by open classes to further strengthen their technique and artistry. Despite the challenging nature of studying classical ballet at such levels, teachers at the Academy always employ the philosophy that students learn best when they enjoy what they do.
