The Perfect Plie

Ballet is hard work! It takes years and years of dedicated practice and even then professional ballerinas are always looking to improve their technique.

Plie` is the first thing we learn as a three year old dancer. It is a foundation step for not only all of ballet, but it is also used in jazz, modern and tap. As such it is important we are performing it correctly and using it to our advantage. Doing a perfect plie` will help to prevent injuries, elevate your jumps and improve your control.

Eric Franklin has written a great article with tips and tricks on how you can improve your plie`. He uses detailed anatomical cues coupled with rich imagery to really help the dancer visualise exactly what is and what should be happening.
